BROOKLYN LAB RECORDED EVENTS
Inaugural High School Graduation
Brooklyn LAB celebrated our inaugural graduating class on June 28, 2021. Scholars from the Class of 2021 were accepted to over 400 colleges across the U.S. and they remain active in the Brooklyn LAB community as alumni.
On November 11, 2020, Brooklyn Lab hosted its first ever TEDxYouth event, showcasing talks and performances from Brooklyn LAB and other high school students. The talks specifically highlight Gen Z’s vision for the future and their take on critical issues like racial justice, teenage mental health, gender identity, climate resiliency, and more.
8th Grade Stepping Up Ceremony
On June 24, 2021, 8th graders participated in a Brooklyn LAB tradition: the 8th grade stepping up ceremony. Traditionally held in person, 8th graders and their families gathered virtually to celebrate their advancement to the 9th grade.
Players Coalition Partnership with Brooklyn LAB
Players Coalition Co-Founder Anquan Boldin and Arizona Cardinals Offensive Tackle and Players Coalition Task Force Member Kelvin Beachum visited Brooklyn LAB to present a grant to help strengthen and deepen our existing computer science, engineering, and workforce connections. The grant also includes hosting TEDxYouth@BrooklynLab, a night of talks focused on the intersection of social justice, education, and criminal justice reform.
Webinar with the
American Federation of Teachers (AFT)
In this edWebinar, leaders of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and Brooklyn Laboratory Charter Schools (LAB), in New York City, discuss key questions we must all consider as we begin the journey back to school – from the school bus ride to the dismissal bell.
While some challenges remain outside of the purview of the education system, both the AFT and LAB have described a range of issues to be considered and offered solutions on what schools need to do to offer a safe environment for teaching and learning.
